[opensuse] baloo AND tracker-miners?
While I have issues with baloo which I will address at some other time, I noticed that on my desktop I am running both baloo and tracker-miners indexing software. I do not have gnome installed, but the information on tracker-miners says that it is "desktop neutral" indexing software. So I am wondering, is it necessary to have both of these running? I mean, I see the value of indexing software in general, but how much more value does it add to my system to have both of these running? When I am looking for a file, I almost always use the command line commands of grep and find, and rarely, if ever, do a search using a graphical file manager like dolphin. The only time that would apply is in some directories that have lots of files, with dolphin I can hit the first few letters of a filename and bring those files into view. But I don't know if that is because of one of these indexing files or not. -- George Box: 15.1 | Plasma 5 | AMD Phenom IIX4 | 64 | 32GB Laptop #1: 15.1 | Plasma 5 | AMD FX 7TH GEN | 64 | 32GB Laptop #2: 15.1 | Plasma 5 | Core i5 | 64 | 8GB -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
