[opensuse] Firefox 3 is missing "Open with.." selection
Hi, I have upgraded my FF2 to 3.0 beta while I was running 10.3 (using the beta repository), After that I made an upgrade to 11.0. The thing is, that now I do not have "Open with ..." selection when I click on a link to some types of files. If I right-click on the link and select Save link as ... it will open the file selection dialog. If I click on the link as normal, it pops up a dialog only with "Save" button, there is no "Open with" so I can select an application to deal with the file. Can somebody confirm this problem? Anyone knows how to fix it? I couldn't find anything on google or mozzila site. -- Svetoslav Milenov (Sunny) Even the most advanced equipment in the hands of the ignorant is just a pile of scrap. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

OK, here is some more info: the file I try to download is .xls excel worksheet. Looks like the server which serves it, is misconfigured, and it sets the mime type to application/octet-stream. The strange thing is, that it does not stop ff3 on windows offer "open with ", while in opensuse it always tries to save it. Also, FF3 on opensuse looks like recognizes the type of the file even without the proper mime header, as it displays in the "Open" dialog that it is excel worksheet, but only offers to save it. Hi, Delete or rename the file "mimeTypes.rdf" in /home/'your name'/.mozilla/firefox/'FF profile'/ and the "Open with" will be back. There seems to be an incompatibility with FF2. It worked for me. Hi Michael, thanks for the suggestion. Actually I went further, and deleted (i.e. renamed) the whole .mozilla/firefox, and after I started FF again, it recreated it - but still the same behavior :( Cheers -- Svetoslav Milenov (Sunny) Even the most advanced equipment in the hands of the ignorant is just a pile of scrap. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
