Significant but not relevant to logging in. If you type in 'aabbccdd'
for
your password you should be able to login.
Sorry guys. Not on my RedHat 6.0 machine (at work) I just checked the password of my test user and I can't login if I change/add after 56 char's. So again, at least under RedHat 6.0 passwords are more than 56 char's significant. Someone care to check if there are passwd rpm's under SuSE which should be installed to get the same behaviour?
Just created a new user and changed the password to 10 characters. Logged on using only the first 8.
