I think we're jumping the gun here people. This is not news. Corel announced
this when they announced their Office Suite would run on Linux. This isn't a bad
thing either! Not only do we get YAOSFL (Yet Another Office Suite For Linux),
but they contributed a lot of code to the Wine Project. They've said that this
is only temporary and that WP Office would run on Linux natively by the next
release. I can't imagine why everyone's getting so upset about this. I think
they've been honest and upfront on this issue. Like I said, this is old news

This has nothing to do with SuSE, directly, however, I think it's important that everyone here knows what Corel is "up to."
Their soon-to-be-released Office 20000 Suite is NOT a native Linux Suite, and in fact, the code was NOT ported to Linux. It's a modified 'Bloze version (all versions now have common code) that runs under Wine, which is shipped WITH the Suite. Now, for some this is fine...not a problem. I guess for me, I object to Corel's giving all this "lip service" to supporting Linux, and producing a LINUX VERSION of it's office suite, then having to read a review of the product to find out that it's NOT Linux code at all. I guess is an issue of honesty, if nothing else.
Are you serious? If that's the case I won't be buying it. Which review explains all this? I agree. The inflametory accusation posted here about what Corel is doing is something that needs to be avoided. Let us not be known for being mean spirited and nasty, it hurts all of us. Peace-- RICkp Matt Nelson wrote:

Let's review this and see if there is a reasonable and valid issue:

Here, Fred Miller declares: "I object to Corel's giving all this "lip service" to supporting Linux, and producing a LINUX VERSION of it's office suite, then having to read a review of the product to find out that it's NOT Linux code at all. I guess is an issue of honesty..." If Fred had bothered to learn something about Corel's office suite project when it was first announced over one year ago and if he had followed the information provided by Corel during its development, he would already know about how Corel was using WINE to develop it and would not be finding this out from a review of the product. But Fred does not bother to inform himself or learn what the truth is. Instead, he loudly accuses Corel of dishonesty. Instead of being accused by the grossly ignorant, Corel deserves to be praised for their courageous commitment to the Linux platform and their many contributions to the open-source movement. Hey newbie! Off the old-timer! Fred is one of the most informed and informing people I ever met in cyberSpace. I read his post as being half toung-in-cheek. Anyhow, we really should try t refrain from too much ad hominem on a list like this. Peace, Steve Dwight Johnson wrote:
