[opensuse] Multiple windows open, only 14 listed - KDE on 42.2
One thing I've noticed is that while I might have several browser windows open, only 14 are listed above the task bar, when I click on the browser. There is nothing to indicate more than 14, other than a half height bar for the next window in the list. This means the only way I can get to anything beyond those is to put the cursor over the browser on the task bar and use the scroll wheel to cycle through every open window, to find the one I want. Is there any way to get more than 14.5 windows listed? Scrolling over the list does not work. tnx jk -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Presuming you are using KDE, right click on the task bar (in a blank space) and select task manager settings. Fiddle with the settings in there. You can select multiple rows (optionally only when needed), You can turn off grouping so each window gets a separate task on the task bar. etc. etc. Realistically, this is why tabbed browsers were invented. Your example is for 14, but the next user would want 20 windows, and the next would be 35. Sooner or later you have to realize your work flow is broken, not the desktop. Accommodating an ever increasing number of windows on multiple desktops while keeping them all instantly viable is unworkable. -- After all is said and done, more is said than done. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

That doesn't seem to do anything.

14 is a bit over half the height of the screen. 20 would cover it, but it would be nice if the scroll wheel moved the list up & down. BTW, I do use tabs for related topics, but also have several completely unrelated windows open. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Which KDE? 3, 4, fw5? You used to be able to set a shortcut to "Show Window List" (default Alt+F5) that would pop up a concise list of all open windows. Still works in KDE3. -- David C. KDE 4. I don't see "Show Window List" in the shortcut actions. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
