I just did an online update SuSE8.0 All went well except when my system Restarted I lost my network interfaces And ssh. With a little reconfiguring I got My interfaces up, and restarted sshd manually Is there a correct way to start sshd manually Instead of starting the daemon directly ? # /etc/init.d/sshd start I suggest you have a look at the section "Init Scripts" in SuSE-Linux-Reference.pdf. Also note the "Runlevel editor" in YaST2 can do it in a GUI way. -- Alexandr.Malusek@imv.liu.se

Or, if you don't want to type in the whole path, almost all scripts in init.d have symlinks in /usr/sbin which is in root's path, called rc$SCRIPT. So, in this case rcsshd start Same thing, only less typing :) //Anders
