[opensuse] Novell, please, help for moderating the lists
Houghi do a very goos job with his moderating messages. But may be messages signed "houghi" seems too "personal initiative", newcommers can't know how long was the houghi's engagement for openSUSE. I think Novell should give Houghi an e-mail as "Opensuse-mailing-lists-moderator@opensuse.org (or something similar) for that purpose. May be this way Houghi's messages will have more power? jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://dodin.org/galerie_photo_web/expo/index.html http://lucien.dodin.net http://fr.susewiki.org/index.php?title=Gérer_ses_photos --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-help@opensuse.org

No, I really don't think so, and I sure hope that's not necessary. It's not just houghi who can send those replies to redirect people/threads. Everyone can do. It's just that currently houghi has the time for doing it (again, thanks for doing so ;)). And I guess no one else has sent such a reply because houghi is so quick ;D Actually it's about the "rules" of the list, it's not about a specific person sending them that reply. cheers - -- -o) Pascal Bleser http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/ /\\ <pascal.bleser@skynet.be> <guru@unixtech.be> _\_v The more things change, the more they stay insane. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFEgrzDr3NMWliFcXcRAo6fAKCBa1fWvrF4RMnqT4VVtX5SuAN7XQCcCpbK 4MGip2Q5yURFlhbtEHLMvtI= =gMBP -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-help@opensuse.org

I would then feel pbligatory to do things and I want to do it because I want to, not because I have to, unless Novell will give me money. :-)

I have indeed seen other send similar messages.
Actually it's about the "rules" of the list, it's not about a specific person sending them that reply.

you know what me disturbs more on this list? messages like that. i still dont see technical threads are a problem for us. but we waste more and more threads discussing how we can get people of the list instead of on the list. 1. your "on join warning" could be easily integrated into the mailinglist messages send on join. ask henne. 2. instead of directly spamming "you are wrong here" post something like: "try this and that. that should solve the problem. but lets continue the thread on suse-linux-e as it is more applicable" that is imho better than just spamming the folks with "you are wrong here" darix -- openSUSE - SUSE Linux is my linux openSUSE is good for you www.opensuse.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-help@opensuse.org

OK. Henne?

Then by all means, please do so. I peronaly just have a feeling (and pexperience) that it won't work. I would love to be wrong if the result is a clutterfree place to discuss non-technical openSUSE stuff. houghi -- This openSUSE mailinglist is about the community. Not to barge in to your party here and the polite discussions, and confusion as to where the proper place to post pertinent questions, but I did read a recent post on suse-linux-e indicating that better information and explanations to all the packaging changes in 10.1 could be found over here on the opensuse lists, or at least the opensuse-factory list and irc. I for one have found not much here that would indicate I could find assistance with my technical questions, or any other reason to be here. However that post on suse-linux-e did not help you guys here with your community. Hope you get it sorted out. Most likely he is/was right, ...
I for one have found not much here that would indicate I could find assistance with my technical questions, or any other reason to be here.
..., becaue information and explanation about packaging chages don't have to be technical. Without the contect however it is unknown wether the person was right or not. houghi -- This openSUSE mailinglist is about the community. All discussion about the community is welcome.
