[opensuse] pptp NetworkManager
Dear list, i'm using openSUSE 11.0 and I need pptp vpn connection. NetworkManager is 0.7. The repositories don't include pptp plugin for nm. Does anybody know where to get it or how to build it. Thanks in advance. Johannes -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

You can try getting http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/sjcundy/openSUSE_10.3/src/Ne... And rebuild it for 11.0: rpm --rebuild NetworkManager-pptp-0.6.3.cvs20060819-21.1.src.rpm Regards, Ciro -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks Ciro. But this is for NetworkManager Version 0.6 - is it compatible to 0.7? Regards, Johannes -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

As a last alternative you can download code from repository (http://www.gnome.org/projects/NetworkManager/developers/) pack it to tar.bz2and use the spec file included in the src.rpm package. Or better, use BuildService. Regards, Ciro -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Pptp plug-in is available only in NetworkManager SVN, there were no no rpm packages based on this SVN code, although Fedora already has them. IMHO, you can track the following issue for news: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=221466 As to me, I'm using pppd script to establish connection, the only problem I didn't solve, is making this script runnable by common user. It is suid, you should be able to use it. Ah, no, my error: I did it suid, not suse: nimrodel:/etc/postfix # grep pppd /etc/permissions* /etc/permissions:/etc/smpppd.conf root:root 600 /etc/permissions:/etc/smpppd-c.conf root:dialout 640 /etc/permissions:/var/run/smpppd root:dialout 750 /etc/permissions.local:/usr/sbin/pppd root.dialout 6754 The last one is my modification, several years back, to use the modem as user. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
