[SLE] laptop problems: cirrus SVGA screen offset
Hi again The saga of the twinhead laptop continues. It has a cirrus CLGD7543 chipset. When I try to use the XF86_VGA16 server in 800x600 then the display is displaced downwards - there is a 30-pixel high blank area at the top of the screen, and the bottom of the display is lost. No adjustment of numbers on the modeline creates any effect, but adding "+hsync +vsync" cures the problem. So far, so good. Using the XF86_SVGA server is a similar story, but now the display is displaced upwards by 30 pixels, and the "+hsync +vsync" has no effect. Nothing has any effect. I can't get to see the top 30 rows. If I change the modeline to generate only 599 rows then the problem is "cured" - the top of the display is at the top of the screen, and the bottom row is blank (- well, it would be.) My "working" modeline looks like this: Modeline "800x600" 30 800 856 976 1040 599 601 602 603 +hsync +vsync Does anyone know how to drive this thing in true 800x600 resolution? brian -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
