I had something similar happen to me when installing. What you have to do is boot by floppy in DOS, then run fdisk, "remove" the offending partition, then put it back as a DOS partition. If you want to keep it as DOS, then reformat that partition, and you should be in business! Suse should acknowledge it whether it is a DOS partition or no, Windows is just persnikety on acknowledging it if it isn't formatted a certain way...the suse yast software just looks for partitions.
