[opensuse] Android mtp on 12.3
Hi 12.2 to 12.3 upgrade. KDE. Hi everyone I could never connect to my tablet in 12.2. It needed a udev rule or something. In 12.3, upgraded from 12.2 it just works. No udev rule nor nothing. But it's a bit hit and miss. Sometimes I can edit a file I created e.g. in /mnt/local/Downloads on the tablet, and sometimes I can't. If I drag the file to the desktop, edit it and then drag it back to the tablet, then it's OK. If I try to edit it by just clicking it from the Dolphin window, it first seems to copy the file to /var/tmp before opening it. That's the bit which seems to take the time and produce a permission error. 1. Do I need a udev rule? 2. Must I copy files from the tablet first to be able to edit them? 3. Do I have any control over which folders I can see from the tablet? (I don't have the tablet rooted, maybe I should?) Is this one of the more reliable options for mounting Android devices right now? I've updated go-mtpfs to the latest from Hanwen's github and added it to devel:languages:go so I can keep an eye on it (there's a new Go release due soon). Let me know if there are any issues with this build. http://software.opensuse.org/ymp/devel:languages:go/openSUSE_12.3/go-mtpfs.ymp?base=openSUSE%3A12.3&query=go-mtpfs There are also builds for 12.2, Factory and Tumbleweed but not 12.1 at the moment as I don't have time to figure out the libusb related build failure. Well, it works. Except there is no safely remove! I did see go-mtpfs in the OBS and someone in Ubuntu forum who installed 12.3 had to add go-mtpfs to get their Nexus working -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Should be nice if some of Linux devs extend the managing to MTPZ protocol in order to use Windows Phone terminals as well. So far just a litlle management is available for this O.S. from Linux. libmtp supports MTPZ, but you need to add cryptographics keys yourself. Windows 8 phones no longer need MTPZ. Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Hi Marcus, This is a nice information but how can I proceed to add my crypto keys? Is there a documentation available? I am still on WP-7.8 then for the moment I have to lead with MTPZ :-[ Ciao, -- Marco Calistri (amdturion) opensuse 12.2 (Mantis) 64 bit - Kernel 3.4.28-2.20-desktop Gnome 3.6.2 Intel® Core™ i5-2410M CPU @ 2.30GHz × 4 - Intel® Sandybridge Mobile -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
