SuSE 8.2 on a Toshiba Satellite 1135-S155
Does anyone know of reasons why there should or shouldn't be difficulties installing and configuring SuSE 8.2 on a Toshiba Satellite 1135-S155 notebook computer? I have just purchased one of these notebooks, and before I open the box and have to pay a 15% returns fee if I have to return it, I would like to have some confidence that I won't meet insurmountable difficulties setting it up as a dual-boot machine with Linux. TIA!
I can install SuSE 8.0/8.1 and 8.2 on my Toshiba Satellite 1155CDS but it locks up on boot on the "...pcmcia ...." part. Unfortunately, haven't had time to deal with it since SuSE 8.0. Good luck. On Fri, 2003-04-25 at 13:32, Michael D Green wrote:

I used to have the same problem with my Satellite 5205 and SuSE 8.0 This was easily solved via NOPCMCIA="yes" Running SuSE 8.2 this problem has disappeared......along with the key press issue : ) -----Original Message----- From: Robert Joost [mailto:rjoost@yahoo.com] Sent: 25 April 2003 21:46 To: suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: Re: [SLE] SuSE 8.2 on a Toshiba Satellite 1135-S155 I can install SuSE 8.0/8.1 and 8.2 on my Toshiba Satellite 1155CDS but it locks up on boot on the "...pcmcia ...." part. It looks like a couple of people had problems getting Red Hat to install on similar models: http://home.gagme.com/greg/linux/toshiba1115.php http://home.mn.rr.com/richardsons/toshiba-1115-s103/ There is a good site for user experiences at: http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/ The good news is the Intel 852GM video is supported in Xfree86. The bad news appears that the case gets very warm to the touch at the right wrist (follow the second link in this google search). http://www.google.com/search?q=Toshiba+Satellite+1135-S155 So it looks good if you like XP but you will have to work at it for Linux. pben On Friday 25 April 2003 03:32 pm, Michael D Green wrote:
