[opensuse] direct computer-to-computer voip program

Hello: Maybe I asked this before but can't find any reference. Is there any voip program for linux/openSUSE that works directly from computer to computer? Something similar to skype but without the need of registration and use a central server. I think of something with server and client part and make calls directly between them knowing the other computers IP address. Possibly can be directed through ssh tunnel or encrypted. (Something like vnc but for voice.) Thanks, Istvan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Firefox can do that: https://oneanddone.mozilla.org/en-US/tasks/64/ Regards, -- Aaron "Optimizer" Digulla a.k.a. Philmann Dark "It's not the universe that's limited, it's our imagination. If one of those computers has Asterisk, you can use a SIP client on both. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (26.6°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - dedicated server rental in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I have done this, but most apps want you to register and use SIP. I tried Ekiga, but I didn't see the obvious option. Then I tried linphone, but it crashed: linphone: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib64/liblinphone.so.6: undefined symbol: payload_type_aaceld_48k That's what I have installed. In the past, I used netmeeting, in Linux gnome meeting, now renamed Ekiga. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. Have you tried WebRTC. Firefox Hello supports it, where you can have a video chat between computers. IIRC, there is a server involved, but only for setting up the call. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
