I'm wondering if anyone on the list here is using samba for file server an also use foxpro databases an access databased served up from samba server. would love to see a copy of your smb.conf an any info you might have on file locking an oplocks ect. I'm inplementing a samba server here in near fututer an our account software is foxpro database based. also have one depart that is using access for some barcoding collection for now. I hope in future to maybe move that to a sql base database when i can have time to learn some on myqsl stuff. thanks jack malone Network Administrator EAST TEXAS LIGHTHOUSE FOR THE BLIND dba HORIZON INDUSTRIES 903-595-3444 http://www.horizonind.com
Jack
I have access databases served from a SuSE 7.2 server, I had to set locking
= NO and oplocks = 8 in the smb.conf file as we were having terrible trouble
having any more than 3 users accessing the database asa it used to lock up
the client machine. There are 11 users accessing the fileserver We are also
using Sage Line 50 (multi user accounts package) without any problems. This
particular server is serving live data 3 weeks now and everything seems to
be OK.
Hope this is of help to you......
