[SLE] Home Network problem?
Hi all, I've got a two computer network setup at home. Computer #1 is Opus, it's a 486/66mhz with 8mb ram. Computer #2 is CW (Chilly Willy), it's a 486/100mhz with 32mb ram. Both are running SuSE 5.2 with kernel 2.0.33. Opus is connected to the 'net by a 56k modem. Opus has no problems with connecting to the 'net in anyway. CW is connected to Opus by twisted pair cable. I can ping to CW from Opus ok and from CW to Opus is fine. I can telnet both ways and I have a nfs file system set up between the two. My problem is when I want to use lynx, netscape, pine, ping etc from CW to the net it does not work. Lynx, and netscape just sits there with a "looking up xxxxxxxxx first" and I have to do a kill from /root. Using ping all I get is 100% package lost. Hi George et al, No, I can't get pass Opus to the 'net. When I get on the net (by 56k dial up) I can do everything as normal on Opus. But at the same time if I try to ping from CW it sits there till I stop it and it then says 100% data loss. If I try lynx or netscrape on CW it just says "looking up xxxxxx" and again sits there till I kill it. I'm using 5.2 with 2.0.33, both machines are 486s. If anyone has the (more or less) same setup please tell me how you do this. This is getting to hair pulling time. Sorry it took so long to reply - Monday-Wednesday are real bad for me. Assuming opus' eth1 IP address is 192.168.17.41, this I cannot see why this does not work. Is opus' eth1 IP address 192.168.17.41?
