Hi, This is a newbie question, and the answer is probably very simple, but... I recently upgraded from the 6.4 to 7.0 (I made a clean install, in fact) and can't use my printer anymore. It's the same I used with the 6.4, with the same configuration. I set it up the same way, with YaST. When I try to print some file with the command line, I just get this : lpr : command not found The fact is that I've spent a few hours looking for it in all my /bin /sbin directories without finding it ; the aps package is there and the start_lpd variable is set to "yes" in my rc.config. I uninstalled some packages some days ago, but nothing essential (I think), and each time checked the dependencies... I suppose it is either a path problem or a package I should reinstall, but I searched the package database on the CDs without result. Would some kind soul be kind enough to get me out of this ridiculous situation ? Many thanks in advance. Sarah

Check if lprold package is installed: rpm -qa | grep lprold Lpr is /usr/bin/lpr and is contained in lprold package (series n1). HTH, Kastus

That was it ! I had forgotten it after uninstallation, believing that it was useful only for remote printers through a network... It looked so evident to me that a package related to printing should have been in the "a" series :) Thanks a lot ! But now I have another problem : I made some tests and get only the left half of the pages printed, the right half stays white. I mean, each time, the picture or the text is complete but as if squeezed... never saw that before. My /etc/printcap looks ok (a4 is specified as the default size, as I want to). My printer is a Canon bjc 2000 (ahem...) and I use the bjc 800 driver. Any hints ? Sarah

I don't have access to BJC 2000, so this is my speculation only. I've only been using BJ-10e (it was nice). www.linuxprinting.org recommends bjc600 driver for BJC 2000 printer, not bjc800 that might be your problem. Please look at http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_driver.cgi?driver=bjc600 for further explanations. -Kastus
