[opensuse] Is it worth to report mysql-related bugs?
Dear list, there's a known bug inside the pearl script mysqlhotcopy which is part of the package mysql-tools in 10.3. MySQL version is 5.0.45. The bug is corrected as of MySQL 5.0.50. mysqlhotcopy is unusuable in 10.3. In 11.0 MySQL version is 5.0.51a. I assume the bug is fixed then. Is it still worth to report a bug for 10.3? Will someone fix it if then? In 11.0 MySQL version is 5.0.51a. I assume the bug is fixed then. Is it still worth to report a bug for 10.3? Will someone fix it if then? The best way to know for sure is to check and see whether the changelog for the version in 5.0.51a containss the fix. If it does, bugzilla it under 10.3 with a note saying it is fixed in 11. As 10.3 is still supported, it should be reported. If 11 does not contain the fix, then I uess it should be reported against both.

Please report it, the patch looks rather simple, so we could maybe add it to a future security update (no promise). Also, the server:database buildservice project builds newest mysqlpackages for older distributions: http://software.opensuse.org/search?baseproject=server%3Adatabase&q=mysql Michal -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It is generally worth to report any anomaly, the worst thing that can happend is your report being marked as duplicated, invalid .. buzgilla does not bite ;-) Cheers. -- "Perhaps, my biggest pet peeve pertaining to safe_mode is that it is not really safe, merely offering an illusion of safety that does not stand to closer examination" - Ilia on PHP safe_mode Cristian Rodríguez R.
