Has anyone installed the 9.3 kernel along side the 9.2 kernel on a 9.2 system? Are there any problems that may be incurred doing this? I loaded the 9.3 live DVD and there seemed to be better support for a couple of the pieces of hardware that I have and just wanted to try it before downloading/installing the 9.3 FTP version. I would buy 9.3 but as I am disabled/retired money has become very tight for me. I have purchased all versions up to 9.1 and prefer using SuSE linux. I don't have 9.2 here right now so I can't try it, but I did it a while back and I did have problems. If I recall correctly (and this was a while ago, so I may very well not) you need an updated mkinitrd to get it to work with the default scripts. Of course the kernel itself isn't tied to a particular version, so if you're willing to tinker, it will be possible to get it in there, but I think you have to do a few things by hand. If nothing else, recompile it so you don't need an initrd
Perhaps if you use pcmcia network card, it won't be up. At least on my notebook, with cisco aironet. -- +++ GMX - die erste Adresse fr Mail, Message, More +++ 10 GB Mailbox, 100 FreeSMS http://www.gmx.net/de/go/topmail
