[opensuse] What is going on with the KDE4 Factory repo?
When digging through my KDE 4 Factory repo for openSUSE 11.1 YaST2 is saying there there are two packages on the repo where the newest version is 4.1.3 even though I already have the KDE 4.2.2 version installed, I attached an exported file that has the packages and details. Looking through here http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSU... everything looks to be correct, anyone else noticing t his (AKA something in the rpm file causing it) or is this just a problem with my local cache?

Its just telling you that you have the latest version installed.. however, its showing the "available" versions and its telling you its going to keep the already installed packages. -Matt -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

That much was obvious Matt. The question, as I understood it, was why is there suddenly a back level package on the repo. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Yes I know my system already has KDE 4.2.2 but yes my question is why is saying that the latest in the repo is 4.1.3 instead of 4.2.2 which is actually in the repo, which you can see by following the link in my original message.

The excerpt that you attached to the first post is indication that for some reason YaST can't see repository with 4.2.2. Did you check other kde4 packages? Did you change priorities of repositories? Do you have some packages installed that require 4.1.3? -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

The URL to the repo that I also included is the same repo that I have on my system. Those two files are the only ones that are showing that, so I trimmed down the file so I won't be attaching a large file where most of the information is useless. All the settings for the repo are set to the default, as for packages require 4.1.3 I don't think so I have all my KDE packages updated.

OK. Can you check priority levels in YaST repository management? Please note current. Easy way is to export repo config with zypper: ------------------------------------------------------------- # zypper lr -e myrepo Repositories have been successfully exported to myrepo.repo. ------------------------------------------------------------- Then change KDE4 factory priority to the same number as update repo. I have that way and I don't see problems. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It happens to me also :-) I don't know what cause it. I did the installation from DVD and update it to KDE 4.2. Now there are several packages in yast list as exactly as in your case. I should check the repository using a browser for the packages that affected to compare the version then do the installation manually. However most of the packages is still not affected and I can still update it using yast. regards, medwinz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It probably sees the repos just fine, but the update repo has a higher priority, thus the 4.1.3 package from it takes automatic preference. You just need to go into the version tab in Yast and specifically choose the correct package from the kde4 repo. -- Joe Morris Registered Linux user 231871 running openSUSE 11.1 x86_64 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks for the clue Joe. You're right. I increase the priority for KDE4 Factory Desktop on Yast from 99 to 15 and update repo stay on 20. Now every package shows up correctly. I can take it back if necessary, at least I know what caused it. regards, medwinz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Except KDE official updates. They are now masked with higher factory priority ;-) This currently makes no difficulties, but it is fact to have in mind. When 11.2 comes out, you may want to keep majority of packages updated from official /update tree, and manually pick newer from KDE factory. To have both visible you have to set them to the same priority level. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
