[opensuse] DNS lookup slow - autoconfig wireless from router
Hello, I am using wireless networking. In Yast, Wicked Service is selected. The wlan0 interface is set for DHCP and the DNS config is left at default values. I recently (some time after upgrade to 42.2) started getting delays every time a host is looked up. /etc/resolv.conf has these uncommented lines: == search suse home nameserver fe80::1%wlan0 nameserver 192.168.1.254 == So it seems like an ipv6 version is checked first and does not work. I don't need ipv6. I understand I can use yast to switch to manual DNS configuration, and just put 192.168.1.254 there (or 8.8.8.8 even). But this could lead to problems down the line if I later have to configure a different connection. Is there any way I can remove the ipv6 version while keeping auto-configuration working? -- Yours, Mikhail Ramendik Unless explicitly stated, all opinions in my mail are my own and do not reflect the views of any organization -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

If autoconfig is wrong, you have to do it manually. But the information is probably given by your own router, so it is your router fault. You could try configuring it. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.2 x86_64 "Malachite" (Minas Tirith))
