Did you replace your hard drive/change the mode of addressing your hard drive in the BIOS/change the lilo.conf file by any chance? L_ indicates a disk geometry problem. I got it recently when I installed a new 5.7 Maxtor. I have LILO installed in the MBR. Disabling the "linear" option in the YAST setup menu for LILO solved the problem. (If my memory serves me right the "linear" option even though it was set active under YAST did not appear in the lilo.conf file on my SuSE 5.1 box.) Please let the list know what fixes the problem for you. Good Luck, Jesse McDonnell On Sun, 22 Nov 1998, Dark_Hour wrote:

Startup with your CD-ROM or Diskette...then choose the Startup from the disk...after that...you should only enter "fdisk" and make at least one partition bootable! :)) choose flag "a" to make a partition bootable...here is an example...:)) If your startup disk is: /dev/sda1 and you have winXX on /dev/hda2 you should do this! bash# fdisk Using /dev/sda1 as default device! Command (m for help): a Partition number (1-4): 1 Command (m for help): w Command (m for help): q bash# lilo ; reboot And that's all folk's :)) Regards, Lubelio Fernandes - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
