Re: [opensuse] Can't switch to new desktop - OpenSUSE 12.3 & KDE.

In my installation, I get what you call the Desktop Sessions box, where you can select from other sessions (if any). You can key in an already launched session, or select from a list, or click the Nes Session button (which is green on my setup).
Clicking that green button gives and explanation screen, which you can suppress after the first time, and from which you can key in a new user name.
I see that New Sessions button on the first time after I reboot. After that, I don't see it. Even when I had it, I wasn't able to start a new desktop. I'd just get a screen that says my desktop was locked etc. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Something seems wrong here.... Are you trying to start a new session with the same login (same user) as the one you are logged in with? My laptop has two users. Me, and spGuest. 1) When I log in as Me, and then from the menu, I select Leave / Switch User, I see an (Empty) List, of other sessions, and below that there is New Session button. 2) When select spGuest, and log in, I get whole new KDE desktop for spGuest. 3) When, as spGuest, I select Switch user (like 1 above) I the list showing Me as one of the choices, and New Session at the bottom. 4) If I select Me, I am asked for a password, an the system switches back to my original log in session. I can repeat this sequence as often as I like swapping between Me and spGuest. But it WON'T allow me to log in again as any user that is already logged in. (I don't thing this is a bug, I think it is by design) And the option never disappears from that Switch User pop-up panel. (it might be scrolled out of sight, but you can drag the popup deeper). -- _____________________________________ ---This space for rent--- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
