[opensuse] System Update Opensuse 10.1 -> Opensuse 10.2, Update with Mini-ISO-CD Error
Hello, I tried to update my system from OpenSuse 10.1 to OpenSuse 10.2. This is what I did: - wget http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/...M-i386-mini.iso - Burn OpenSUSE-10.2-GM-i386-mini.iso on CD - Boot PC from CD - Choose "Installation" - CD asks for WLAN-authentication (although I also have a wired Ethernet-card in my Notebook!?) -> select "no authentication" (since no authentication needed) - CD asks for ESSID -> Enter ESSID - CD reports "Could not find the OpenSUSE Installation Source. Activating manuel setup programm" -> Confirm with "OK" - CD asks for Keyboard-Layout -> Select "German" - In the "Main Menu" -> Select "Start Installation or System" - Select "Start Installation or Update" - CD asks for source medium -> Select "Network" - CD asks for Network protocol -> Select "FTP" - CD asks for IP-Address -> On first try: "ftp.opensuse.org", on 2nd try IP-address "ftp.opensuse.org" which is "195.135.221.134" - CD trys to load installation files. After 35 min still nothing happens. I quit. My network and DSL-connection definitely work. What am I doing wrong? Please help! You are trying to do an online installation in the middle of a new release. It's doomed to failure, since the servers will be overloaded with people downloading the CDs or DVDs At this point, you need to either download the discs with torrent or metalink, or wait until the commotion dies down a bit -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
