I was just wondering if anyone knew that status of the 2.6.0 kernel It has been a few months since the 2.5.x kernel freeze and I was hoping a 2.6.0 kernel would come out this quarter. Along the same lines, is there a "status" page somewhere to know what Linus and his team are up to. Greg Freemyer

Kernel 2.5.xx is not frozen - 2.5.59 was released on 01/17/2003 The link below has a list of open issues pre 2.6 and post 2.6 http://kernelnewbies.org/status/latest.html or you could subscribe to the linux-kernel mailing list located at vger.kernel.org George

Linus was (naturally) asked that question at linux.conf.au last week. No firm answer. He did say that the IDE mess was a big sticking point and that Andrew Morton will probably be maintainer. There's loads of work to do yet. As for this quarter - not a chance in hell. My guess is towards the end of the year. -- Microsoft Palladium: "Where the hell do you think YOU'RE going today?"
