******* Where does a newborn go from here? The Net is Vast, and Infinite...******** Wizards and Gurus, I need some assistance w/ an installation of 7.1 I want to reinstall it on a new scsi drive on an all scsi box... this means I have to use the boot floppy and the modules floppy before it can get to the installing part Probelm occurs , apparently some problem has occurred and teh floppy doesn't seem to work any more ( it doesn't start attempting to boot linux from the floppy , as it used to.) I do not have a linux installation , nor do I have those lovely books that came w/ my 7.1 ( Suse)pro box ( I *was* hoping to find a 7.2 version before I had to install linux .. but I can not cope any longer w/ just w2k boxes around me ! My sanity is at stake here <s>) If someone would be kind enough to send a private email if they desire and tell me the steps I need to take to recreate those floppies ( it's *somewhere* on one of the cd's , but I am unlikely to find it w/o knowing where adn more importanlty which files I'm looking for.) TIA y'all Blondely, j afterthought--- Blessed is he who laughs at himself for he never ceases to be amused.
Assuming you have a dos machine somewhere, with your CD rom in it, you need to do rawrite (which you can copy from the cd, or run from it) and then give the commands, e:\images\boot.img and enter the target drive, which should be the A: drive. (You will, of course, have put a formatted floppy in that drive first.) This will make you a boot disk that will access the CD rom and let you install Linux. Note that "e:" is assumed to be your CD drive. If your CD is something else, then fix it. At 23:11 06/18/2001 -0500, you wrote:
