[opensuse] Audio Volume Low
Hi, I have been trying to get my skype to work with pulseaudio on this Toshiba U505 laptop that I am using, and followed the suggestions for doing so in the opensuse skype howto. It was without success, so I got rid of pulseaudio and went back to alsa, and now skype works. I configured the sound card and set the card output volume to 100% via yast. The sound card is a 828011(ICH9 Family) Audio Controller and uses the HDA Intel driver. I have kmix set to the highest volumes available. The problem is that when I try to play a dvd in Mplayer or Kaffeine, the volume is pretty low. I played around with settings in Kaffeine, and got it to a reasonable volume, but it is still a little lower than I would like it to be. I can't get the volume to raise to a comfortable listening level with Mplayer. I tried to use alsamixer to raise volume, and that had no effect either. This isn't specifically an Alsa problem, the volume was low with pulseaudio as well when I tried to play dvd's or listen to some podcasts on the internet. Anyone have any ideas what might be wrong and how I can get the volume higher on the audio output?
