[opensuse] Cannot Enable Community Repositores on 10.3 KDE Live CD
When I try to enable the Community Repositories in YaST2 Control Center on the 10.3 live CD, I get "No product URL defined to download list of repositories from." This the first thing I did when I booted the live CD. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I didn't used any of 2 Live CD's, but it seems that having any repository enabled before you install system on hard disk has no much sense. Where to install package that you can see in online repository. On the other hand after testing amount of available RAM it can be possible to allow (test) installation, starting with warning that changes will be lost after computer is shut down. Maybe you can add this to: http://en.opensuse.org/Feature_Wishlist The list is little bit confusing, but be sure that developers look for changes in this list and adding feature requests that is possible to fullfill to their database (FATE). -- Regards, Rajko. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I don't want to install openSUSE. I just wanted it to work while in live mode. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

That is what I meant under (test) installation, just test run for package management, ie, "install in RAM" some program that will disappear when computer is turned off. The reason that this is not good idea right now is that user can ask to install something bigger than RAM and lock computer, which will backfire as: "openSUSE is not good, it locked my computer when I played with YaST". Once when 10 GB RAM would be standard configuration this will change, but for now is better as it is. So far I know Knoppix (the most popular Live CD) doesn't allow packages to be added from online repositories. It must be installed on hard disk first. -- Regards, Rajko. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Now I have to take back what I said about installation. Running Live CD in Virtual box it was possible to install Midnight Commander, so Live CD allows installation from official repositories, just Community Repositories module fails with above mentioned message. So which one is the bug. Allowing installation from official repositories in Live CD session, or inability to add community repositories. -- Regards, Rajko. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It is a bug and exists also on the system installed from the LiveCD. I think it's related to the fact product is a bit different than pure 10.3 Stano -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

OK, the problem is in /etc/YaST/control.xml, the URL for external_sources_link tag is wrong. Stano -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
