I need to install GnuPG on my web host's server. Since they run Slackware they say I can't install an rpm. I found a gnupg.src.rpm but I don't know if that will work. Anyone have any thoughts? Tom -- Tom Nielsen Neuro Logic Systems 805.389.5435 x18 www.neuro-logic.com
Well, this is actually a Slackware question ("how do I get RPMs to install on this machine?"), but here goes: Alien: Alien is a program that converts between the rpm, dpkg, stampede slp, and slackware tgz file formats. --http://www.kitenet.net/programs/alien/ On Tuesday 10 December 2002 12:21, Tom Nielsen wrote:

The srpm's, are just the tarballs and some configuration files packaged up as an rpm. You need to compile it. I doubt if they will let you compile on the web server, so that means you need to get the slackware rpm , extract the files, and upload it to your home dir. You need to get the library versions matched up, or you might have to put a shell wrapper around gpg, and LD_PRELOAD the libraries before you run the gpg executable. Find out which version of Slackware they are running, then get the gpg rpm for that version. If you are lucky, the libs will match, and gpg will run. If not, watch the error message and see which lib it complains about. -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation
