looks like a problem with your zip disk

You didn't say, but it seems that you have a PP zip drive hanging off your printer. IE the same as I do. So I looked in my files and I noticed this:
<4>sda : status = 1, message = 00, host = 0, driver = 08
This may be the problem, on my system it shows "status=0". I don't know what status it's talking about or what to do about it. BUT I would change your fstab some.
tom@linux:~> cat /etc/fstab
/dev/sda4 /media/zip auto noauto,user 0 0
Try this: /dev/sda4 /media/zip auto rw,noauto, user, exec 0 0 Also do you have a disk in the drive when you boot? If so, take it out. On the other hand if not, try puting one in and rebooting. Also, if you have a couple of machines chained together, change the order that they are in. For example I have on my Printer Port, a zip100 drive, a scanner, and a printer in that order.
