Managed to get the wlan0 card to show up in ifconfig and I can ping it's address but not the router - I suspect the channel isn't set to the right number. What file does SuSE to set a wireless channel number? -- (o< //\ Powered by SuSE Linux V_/_ Virusproof. Crashproof. 10:42pm up 1 day, 9:00, 19 users, load average: 1.46, 1.26, 1.13 processes 119352

I'm not in front of my laptop right now, but I would look in /etc/pcmcia/ at the files config.opts and wireless.opts, perhaps also there is a file called wlan.opts. Or maybe, instead of opts they end with config, like I said, I'm not in front of my laptop. HTH Mike Sacco

Go to file /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth-pcmcia Here's what mine looks like (censored) : BOOTPROTO='static' BROADCAST='192.168.123.255' DHCLIENT_SET_DOWN_LINK='yes' IPADDR='192.168.123.110' MTU='' NETMASK='255.255.255.0' NETWORK='192.168.123.0' REMOTE_IPADDR='' STARTMODE='hotplug' UNIQUE='' WIRELESS='yes' WIRELESS_ESSID='xyz' WIRELESS_KEY='set a hexkey' WIRELESS_MODE='Managed' WIRELESS_CHANNEL='your channel number' Good luck. -- Jan Elders Nuenen the Netherlands
