[opensuse] No sound in opensuse11
Hello all, I'm a totally blind user and let me first say that I apreciate the inhancements to opensuse in the accessibility area, especially the talking boot menu. I'm running a del optiplex210 desktop with a soundblaster audigySE. When I bring up opensuse, the boot menu speaks fine. However, when I boot opensuse, there's no sound at all. Bringing up orca produces no speech even when going into gnome terminal and running orca as root. Does anyone have anyideas as to why I can't get sound or speech in opensuse? Running a gig of ram. Mike, Make sure you are a member of the audio group in /etc/group first. For example: grep audio /etc/group audio:x:17:david If you are not a member, add yourself to that group either with yast or just edit /etc/group as root. Then report back your progress and we will go from there. -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E. do any other sounds work, that is, can you play music and it's just the
speech that doesn't work, or do you get no sound at all in any
application?
