[SuSE Linux] Re: rpm2html for SRPMs?
Hi, Thanks for your concern! Don't worry...I've done my home work. No need to reinvent the wheel. I'm just applying those techniques (and a few of my own) to enhance RPM Browser for Windows. Please (re) visit the RPM Browser website and join the mailing list at ( <A HREF="http://www.laysi.com/rpmbw"><A HREF="http://www.laysi.com/rpmbw</A">http://www.laysi.com/rpmbw</A</A>> ). There are things coming down the road for the Linux 'purist' as well as those who are dual/multi booting the Linux OS. It's really EXCITING! Again, thanks! -Larry -----Original Message----- From: Jim Hebert <jhebert@compu-aid.com> To: rpm-list@redhat.com <rpm-list@redhat.com> Date: Wednesday, January 06, 1999 7:31 PM Subject: RE: rpm2html for SRPMs?

I'm working now on accessing RPM files in the Linux (ext2) partitions, from WIndows, on a dual/multi boot machine. The same techniques are being considered for ftp sites as well. Currently, I only having success from Win95/Win98. I'm trying to crack the NT barrier...

I hope by accessing ext2 partitions you mean via the read-only ext2fs driver availible for windows9x, as opposed to writing your own ext2fs code into the rpm browser!!!
I think the file is called fsdext2 or something similar. Sorry no url offhand, I don't have windows anywhere near me and just barely remember seeing this thing on the net. =)

I'm working on implementing this feature for RPM Browser for Windows ( <A HREF="http://www.laysi.com/rpmbw"><A HREF="http://www.laysi.com/rpmbw</A">http://www.laysi.com/rpmbw</A</A>> ). I can't yet say when this version will be available, though.
Are you sure? I'm talking about some tool that will let me view a spec file in a SRPM without having to download the SRPM.... I would think that this would require some preprocessing on the remote end (as rpm2html does).
From my understanding of RPM Browser for Windows (I could definitely be wrong here :-) it would need to download the SRPM in order to extract the spec. If I'm wrong about this, do you plan to port RPM Browser for Windows to Linux? *grin*
