[opensuse] Are there known problems with 11.2 DVD boot code?
Hi, When I try to boot from the 11.2 DVD (packaged box), it shows a white-text-on-black-background box in the upper left corner that tells something about an error 11 in /boot/i386/loader. The next key stroke invokes a text interface. (I can boot the rescue from there, so the DVD doesn't seem to be damaged completely.) I tried it on three systems, everywhere the same error. Is this a known problem or is this a defect on the DVD? Since I paid for it, I would return it in the latter case. It is a known issue. :-( AFAIK it happens when you try to install the 32bit variant. The workaround is to press ESC to skip the error, then press ENTER at the text mode boot prompt. When the graphics is up again, it works. Steffen -- Das Nichtrauchen entfernt uns von der Zivilisation und setzt den Mann mit seinem Dackel gleich. -- J.
