[opensuse] SIP Phone client
Until now I have used SFLPhone but it was showing some age and the fact that the files on Opensuse buildservice has not been updated for quite some time now has been worrying. Now after update to LEAP, it can't install any more due to some library stuff. So what do the community recommend as a replacement - preferably a KDE application, - or at least something the works and integrates whiteout to many problems. -- Regards Klaus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks Bjoern, but did not have much success with Linphone. Bjoern Voigt skrev den 2017-01-23 13:35:

It is a Gnome app and it seems to miss some dependencies during install. All icons in the user interface is replaced by a red x
But even worse: I cant figure out how to configure my SIP account. No matter what I write in the user, password and Domain fields the proceed buttom is grayed out. Not much luck with the manual configuration tool either - but that might just be me not knowing what to place in what field. -- Regards Klaus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I've used sip software on Linux before for testing. But it is always an unsatisfying solution to have to go to ones computer to make a phonecall. Now I just use Csipsimple, a free Android app that I have on my phone. Works perfectly. I'll dig through my last Linux setup to see what I used and report back. -- Sent from my Android phone with K-9 Mail. Every desk in our office has a Linksys SIP phone - I know we have experimented with putting SIP clients on the PC, which makes sense for some jobs. When you're sat at your desk, it doesn't matter much whether your bluetooth headset is connected to your PC or to a separate phone device. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (-3.9°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - dedicated server rental in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Maybe it wouldn't be too difficult to get SFLPhone to build for Leap42x ? -- Per Jessen, Zürich (-3.8°C) http://www.cloudsuisse.com/ - your owncloud, hosted in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Maybe it wouldn't be too difficult to get SFLPhone to build for Leap42x ? I have considered that possibility, but as SFLPhone is abandoned and replaced by another project[1] by now I guess that will be a short lived solution. I the mean time I found that a guy named Ákos Szőts has tried to build ring on buildservice[2], but currently it does not succeed.

I use Twinkne. Twinkle is not maintained anymore either, but I gave it a try anyway. Registration with SIP worked and I managed to place a call, but only with sound if the call is placed immediately after starting Twinkle. Incoming call also seems to be lost after a while (or the program is lost in some deadlock fighting for the sound output).
I guess Twinkles dependency on Alsa is a problem. Sigh! -- Regards Klaus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
