As Mr. Ben Rosenberg pointed out earlier, you can use sux instead. -- Mads Martin Joergensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogic, with just a little bit more effort." -- A. P. J.

I use the AfterStep WM and put it in my autoexec file : Exec "I" xhost + I guess some other WM's have an equivalent file. Geoff _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get your free @yahoo.com address at http://mail.yahoo.com

Then I would consider adding the line to .xsession or .xinitrc a nicer solution. -- Mads Martin Joergensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogic, with just a little bit more effort." -- A. P. J.
of course, many would consider xhost + insecure, in that it allows anyone to display X to your localhost. would be better to xhost localhostname instead. -- michael On Mon, 02 Apr 2001, quintaq@yahoo.co.uk wrote:

I am sure that is good advice Michael. I just gave an instant response to the question and I should not publicise my sloppy habits. For the moment I am safe enough on the box I referred to, however. Don't bother with xhost at all. Use sux instead of su and you don't have to think about it. It only works on SuSE, however. - -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.4 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE6yNla+FOexA3koIgRAsziAJ47HnITkBb6k89lIso6JXAKa1tRhACgo0At Abe867UWsPUK/TkCsdNruHk= =bSuG -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
