The last time I tried, with one of the USB based 128k modems, it didn't work. The modem was not recognized on the USB. Can you can use it on the serial port, but you will not get full bnandwidth... unless of course someone has actually updated the USB code in the last month or so... and with 7.2 just around the corner, it might be time to try again.

Yes, I am told the work fine. A close friend of mine used one on his laptop when he still ran Linux before changing to FreeBSD and it worked in both environments. He was using RH 5.0 at the time in 1998..so I would assume it would work with a modern distribution such as SuSE 6.4 --> 7.X

It works the same as an external modem or so I am told.
