Ugh! I downloaded Netscape 6.2.2, intending to use it instead of Mozilla at least until 8.0 gets here sometime in May. Two little bothers:
From whence cometh the cute QFA talk dialogoe at the invoking of netscape, which is a bit of a nuisance, and how does one get a non-rpm installed service (such as Netscape) on to the desktop (although coming from Unix I have no problem invoking it from a shell).
And is is 'normal' to not have pdf files show as plugins after the 'helper' (in this case /usr/local/bin/acroread) has been downloaded and is able to display pdf files? The linkage between mozilla and Netscape6 is, shall we say, inextricable. What happens if Mozilla is removed from the system entirely? Anything fatal-like? Thanks for any pointers. I installed the current acroread, and had to set it up under Netscape Edit>Preferences>Navigator>Helper Applications, file type application/pdf. Just a little more obscure than the equivalent in Opera.
