[opensuse] KDE 4.3 Getting Kicker To Open On Current Desktop
I have compiz running on KDE 4.3. When I click on the kicker button for the menu, it automatically brings me back to desktop #1. I don't want that. I want the menu to open on the current desktop so I can load that program on that current desktop. Any ideas? -- Michael S. Yes, I run compiz on 4.3 beta 2, and getting kicker to open is a real pain in the ass. The problem gets better over time as your use compiz on kde43 it seems, but never right. The solution is to "SLAM" the cursor down on kicker and 90% of the time that will do the trick. I just got to the point that I move it down to the bottom screen edge as fast as I can every time -- and that kind of makes kicker work normal. Why "off-scale-high" mouse inertia is required to activate kicker is just another bug with the plasma panel when compiz is running. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. I can get it to open just fine. I just want it to open on the desktop I'm currently on. I hate opening FireFox and then having to move it to desktop #3.

Either: (1) put your cursor over the firefox title bar and: ctrl+alt+shit then right-arrow, right-arrow (2) or right-click the title bar and choose: Move to Another Workspace -> Workspace 3 -- David C. Err..., I understand now. The reason for the confusion is that "I have no problem opening the start menu on desktop 3 and starting firefox and having it run on desktop 3. <quote> I have compiz running on KDE 4.3. I think the problem may be related to the way you started compiz (you probably did it the same way I do -- FusionIcon or just from the command line) There is a bug in the way kde4 handles compiz if you don't start compiz as the default windows manager with Default Applications -> Use a Different Window Manager -> compiz. Try right clicking on the kicker menu icon and selecting "Classic View" and see if you then have the menu on all desktops. Gather your symptoms and write a bug against it a bugs.kde.org -- David C. I also don't have the problem. Kicker launches the applications on the selected desktop. I have Milestone 2 with all the updates. Karl -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
