I see that amavis is running by default, but since I have not setup a virus utility it is useless. Can anybody recommend me a setup that is working with it? I followed several links from the amavis web site, but all these links are either not working or offer than another server product. It is confusing, since I do not know what do I really need? Is it just the description file or the entire antivirus produtct? BTW, what does it really do, if installed correct? bye Ronald Ronald Wiplinger (ÃQ¤¯¯Ç), CEO, ELMIT - THE Internet Solution Provider Tel. +886 2 8809-7680, Fax. +886 2 2809-9158, Mobile: +886 915 653-452 Net2Phone:8869550066, ICQ: 111651169 http://www.elmit.com http://www.wiplinger.org

You need one of the supported antivirus software packages and the latest virus description files that go with it. I use the Unix version of McAfee VirusScan. There were one or two other packages that I had to seek out and set-up before Amavis would install (this was under SuSE 6.4 and may no longer be necessary).

Scans your incoming and/or outgoing mails and any attachments for viruses. If it detects an infected message it sends it off to a quarantine directory and alerts the system administrator and sender automatically by email. I've installed it on our office email server and its already saved our Outlook users' bacon on a number of occasions. Martin Drake Luxembourg
