[opensuse] Xorg changing screen size and SaX2
Hi, I have used the XF86 for many years and have always liked the 'zooming' feature of changing the screen mode on the fly with the CTRL-Alt-'+' or CTRL-Alt-'-' combinations. I am currently running with SuSe 10.1 on both a desktop and an IBM T42 Laptop. The 'zooming' works on the desktop but not the laptop. I am speculating that the problem might just be the keyboard on the laptop. But since I do not have a keyboard that will work to plug into the laptop I cannot debug it that way. Is there some other way to see what the keyboard is getting for key strokes? If someone has a better explanation & fix I would like to hear it. Most laptops have a "Fn numlock" key combo. you will likely see a + and a - in blue or subscript on the numlock keys. Mine are on what would normally be the semi-colon and slash keys. With the keyboard in numlock mode you can use the numlock + and - key to rotate through your xmode settings. let me know if that works for you... wcn Bruce Samhaber wrote:

Wendell, I finally see the numeric keypad is built-in to the regular keypad. Qwerty Keys Numeric Keypad Key 7 8 9 0 7 8 9 / U I O P 4 5 6 * J K L : 1 2 3 - M < > ? 0 . + To enable the numeric Keypad > Hold the 'SHIFT' key and press the 'NumLk/ScrLk' keys. All the above works just fine under Windows XP - SP2 that came with the machine. The NumLock light also turns ON. However, under SuSE 10.1 I only get the / * - + keys when I enable the "NumLk" . The NumLock light does not turn on. This is enough to be able to scroll through the screen modes. However, it would be really nice to have the numeric keypad working.
