I think it's a sound idea. Since most SuSE major verison changes relolve around major KDE releases, this makes total sense. The issue will be getting people to use it, since a lot of users like posting to generic mailing lists even if there's a list that is more specific to thier problem. (for instance, I still see a bit of multimedia questions on the main list). Thanks Donavan Pantke

That would be a wonderful addition IMHO! I think this is right in line with the support and emphasis that SuSE has placed on the default WM in their product line. I can't agree more!!!
Hi, one and all: As usual, the candidate I vote for doesn't get elected; the last one was Gore, the next is "suse-linux-e". I know very well my vote is useless, but that shouldn't prevent me from casting "no" to "suse-kde". My "no" vote is purely for logical, practical reasons. Until now, with one download I could be informed of all the questions relating to SuSE distros; from now on, I have to track *two* downloads. Also, problems relating to suse-kde are--for the most part--not really separable from suse per-se (those which are then should be not in a SuSE list at all, but in the "real" KDE list). Thus, if I have a problem relating to the KDE in my SuSE--and I do!--and of course I don't know if the problem lies with KDE **or** SuSE's application of it, to be sure of getting an answer, I have to post the same question on the two lists (SuSE's KDE isn't *exactly* the same as RH's or Mandrake's; they may be siblings, but no identical twins. And that is true of GNOME and everything else. ) I may be wrong--and until proven so, I'm right...--but separating the two because "there's too much traffic" will only **increase** it, as many people will be posting the same question on two lists; more work for everybody. Thanks for listening. gr, in /usually/ sunny, balmy Florida Gulf coast.

Gilson, The solution is simple for you as it was when you voted for the wrong man. ;o) Just add a filter to your KMail to send both the suse-linux-e & suse-kde mail into one folder! That way you really don't see a seperation of mails and when you reply to either, they go to the correct list for those of us that like the two different ones. There ya go, problem solved and no hanging chads to deal with either! :o) Patrick -- ---KMail 1.3.2--- SuSE Linux v7.3 Pro--- Registered Linux User #225206 Magic Page Products -- Amiga-SuSE-PC Sales & Service URL: http://home.sprintmail.com/~tracerb
How about just joining the KDE list and filtering them into the same mailbox. You email client should take care of the reply-to's but you will see them in one mailbox. I do this for SuSE-KDE, LX-Talk and the SLE. It's all related and I just use procmail to put them into one directory. :) * gilson redrick (gilsonr@cityisp.net) [020418 05:15]: ::Hi, one and all: :: ::As usual, the candidate I vote for doesn't get elected; the last one was ::Gore, the next is "suse-linux-e". People who are habitual crossposters have been dealt with harshly in the past and will be in the future as well. It's up to people on the list to label something as off-topic; I mean, it's silly to post a question specifc to a Sparc here since all of the Sparc people hang out suse-sparc, not here. In any case, the trailer on suse-kde now reads: To unsubscribe, email: suse-kde-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands, email: suse-kde-help@suse.com Please do not cross-post to suse-linux-e Yes, I realize that people ignore those but when they unsubscribed for crossposting they won't be able to complain too much. Also, suse-linux and suse-linux-e are primarily for the i386 platform since we have dedicated lists for the others (axp, sparc, ppc, ia64) but all of those platforms might have KDE problems. It seems a little excessive to force a ppc user to subscribe to a monsterous list like SLE just because they have a KDE question. Thanks for the input, -- -ckm
