[opensuse] Firefox 64 bit & plugins
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 On my 64 bit machine, I've been running the 32 bit version of Firefox from the following repository: http://software.opensuse.org/download/mozilla/openSUSE_10.2 Yesterday, I installed the 64 bit version of Firefox and found that my java plugin and flash plugin wouldn't work. The 64 bit Firefox didn't even recognize them. Does anyone know where there are repositories for 64 bit versions of these plugins? The packages I currently have installed are for the i586 architecture from the following repositories: Java: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-Factory-non-oss/inst-source-ext... Flash: http://software.opensuse.org/download/mozilla/openSUSE_10.2 Any help is greatly appreciated. From what I have been able to find they do not exist yet.
Sun has not released a 64bit browser plugin and their 64bit package does not include it. Adobe has clearly stated on their web site (although the post is old now) that the 64bit flash player is not ready yet either but that they are working on one. (http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=6b3af6c9&sliceId=1). Most other plugins can be used with nspluginwrapper that wraps 32 bit plugins with a 64 bit wrapper to use in 64bit firefox. Tom Rick Friedman wrote:

Any strong reason to install 64 bit Firefox?

I would use default repositories (CD/DVD) and than use YOU to update to current version.
The packages I currently have installed are for the i586 architecture from the following repositories:
Java: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-Factory-non-oss/inst-source-ex tra/suse/
Flash: http://software.opensuse.org/download/mozilla/openSUSE_10.2
Any help is greatly appreciated.
