Hmm .. seems the packages for kde3.1beta1 for SuSe are broken .. (konqueror has no location bar, kview no longer works &c &c). which sorta sucks (esp. given suse 's past excellent track record on KDE updates). Has anyone managed to get the kde31beta1 packages to work corectly ? I checked the dot site which suggested uninstalling kdebindings (which I did) but that did not help the problem. Another annoying feature is that now kde always starts up with a blank session ;( ... They are. However, once they're installed, install the ones at: http://mitglied.lycos.de/lashtal/ You may need to do a --force --nodeps on these ones. But once I installed them over the ones provided by SuSE, things worked much better. The only problem I'm having now is that clicking on files in Konqueror doesn't open them embedded in Konqueror, just.. does nothing. Have to right-click and open them in another program instead. Other than that, everything seems to be working fine. I haven't even tried to fix this yet, so I don't know if there's a fix for it. And 3.1 is looking and acting very nice. Once I installed the above, there's been no crashes or any serious issues for that matter, except the one I just wrote about. I don't consider that a serious issue though, considering it's Beta packages. Joe

Yeah, watchout though as it will (try to) uninstall your /opt/kde2 directory.

Actually this sorta seems to work for me ... only files it doesn't do nicely is documents (.txt, M$doc, .xls &c) images and such work fine. middle mouse button 9oppen in seperate tab) work just fine too .

now that those mitgleid packages are installed kde31b1 is very smooth (and noticably faster then 3.0) thunmbnaisl are blazingly fast, tabbed browsing rules .
