There is a document on the Web that helped me out quite a bit -- the XFree86 Font Deuglification Howto (at <URL:http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/mini/FDU/index.html>). It mentions several things, like rearranging the listing of fonts in the XF86config so that unscaled fonts and 100dpi fonts are first, where to find and how to install truetype fonts, etc. It was worth the trouble. I've always had font problems with Netscrape on Linux, usually it appears to display non proportional fonts when I would have expected proportional. I've always put this down to Nescape 4.x being CR**. I installed Netscape 6 from the SuSE 7.2 discs yesterday (yes it is there but not installed as default) this seems to work much better although it has barfed a couple of times, usually when I was running other APPS so it's hard to pinpoint what triggers the problem. I also attempted to use the smart upgrade on the website to version 6.1, nothing happens with any of their FTP sites, so I can only assume they have not released the binaries for 6.1 yet on Linux. Yes, they have Netscape 6.1 PR1 for Linux. It was released at the same time as the Windows and MacOS 9.X version. Netscapes updater running under Linux blows..always has. I would just go to the ftp site yourself and grab it. It's actually quite stable because it's built on 0.9.1 :) -- Ben Rosenberg mailto:ben@whack.org ----- The only argument for the superiority of Windows over UNIX is that General Protection Fault outranks Colonel Panic.

Hey mine does that too. I thought it was a problem with my satellite delay here, but maybe you're right. I installed Mozilla 9.0.2 the other day, and it works great. Also the linux version of Opera 5 works great. -- Regards, Richard Saint Clair, Co-Founder Technical Manager Internet Users Society Niue Chairman, Pacific Island Chapter ISOC -------------------------------------------- stclair@niue.nu www.niue.nu Voice (68 3) 1157 Fax (68 3) 4237 Internet Service Provider, Niue Island -------------------------------------------- ISP/C, ISOC, APIA, NCOC, ISOCNZ, PICISOC, ARRL -------------------------------------------- Niue Island South Pacific 169 West 19 South
