[By "Magr"] How to enable autologin (no KDE and GNOME installed) ???
I've never seen a reply for this query at the list (see below). I don't know the sender; If he was newcomer to the list, I guess he disappointed at the start point! Excuse me... In addition to the pity, the subject attracts me. Advanced users are requested to reply (publicly). Thank you for your notice, Bahram Alinezhad, Rudehen, Tehran, Iran. This is a mailing list, *not* a helpdesk. If an answer isn't available, or if no-one finds the subject interesting enough or whatever other reason there may be: *too bad*. Just try to repost later, with another subject or something.
Excuse me... In addition to the pity, the subject attracts me.
Then next time you might show a bit more interest yourself instead of telling others what to do.

Before I give an answer: what exactly did you do to help the OP?

Was that your contribution alineziad? Care to explain why that would be relevant?

For the OP: You'll need at least (to use) a displaymanager like kdm or gdm. In the config program for KDE (kcontrol) you can find "Login Manager" under "System Administration". In the "Convenience" tab select "Enable auto-login" and choose the user. If you use gdm as displaymanager run gdmsetup as root, in the "general" tab select "Login a user automatically on first bootup" and select a user. Easy peasy. Theo -- Theo v. If the OP doesn't want a display manager, he could use the instructions detailed at: http://www.linuxgazette.com/node/2293 and either have his logon script issue a startx or have it exec'd by the qlogin script described on that page. Dylan
