I'd guess this is not tested/officially supported, but I'd guess this should work. There are no super large differences. -- Vojtěch Zeisek https://trapa.cz/ Komunita openSUSE GNU/Linuxu Community of the openSUSE GNU/Linux https://www.opensuse.org/

be warned than the updates works only for standard distribution (with all software from yast) any non standard repo will be disconnected at update time and have to be reconnected manually. it's a problem for me, may be not for you :-) jdd -- http://dodin.org

I believe it is necessary to upgrade to 15.1, then to 15.2. I can't recall where I saw that, so cannot confirm.
No, you can upgrade in one go. It is tested. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.2 x86_64 at Telcontar)

Before we moved to the Leap model it was recommended to ensure all migration steps ran, there shouldn't be migration steps in Leap minor versions though. When we get to Leap 16 we will recommend you start by updating to a fully up to date Leap 15 though. -- Simon Lees (Simotek) http://simotek.net Emergency Update Team keybase.io/simotek SUSE Linux Adelaide Australia, UTC+10:30 GPG Fingerprint: 5B87 DB9D 88DC F606 E489 CEC5 0922 C246 02F0 014B

Someone said, some years ago, that the openQA battery tested the upgrade from every version (at the time he said this) to the then current version, and it worked. I have not found the mail in my archive, though; my fault to not save it properly :-( The information could have been in https://features.opensuse.org/305634, but the site is dead. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. Not every version but atleast 2 major versions which is what we say we support in SLE but those tests probably start with a fully updated old system and may do dup's to intermediate repos. -- Simon Lees (Simotek) http://simotek.net Emergency Update Team keybase.io/simotek SUSE Linux Adelaide Australia, UTC+10:30 GPG Fingerprint: 5B87 DB9D 88DC F606 E489 CEC5 0922 C246 02F0 014B

Two major versions in SLE is a big jump, say version 14 to version 16. Version 42 to version 15. Right? Sorry, intermediate repos? What is that? Or you mean intermediate versions? It would be interesting that someone that knows which "direct" updates have been tested in openQA and list them in the update wikis. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.2 x86_64 at Telcontar)

Sure you can. There are two methods: using "zypper dup" after changing the repos, or boot the installation DVD and choose "upgrade". Read the instructions first. Don't forget to do a backup first, whatever method you choose. https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:System_upgrade https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Offline_upgrade <https://doc.opensuse.org/documentation/leap/startup/html/book-opensuse-startup/cha-update-osuse.html> -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. Yes. I have done it successfully more than once. How many times I don't remember. I've been doing online upgrades nearly as long as zypper has existed, sometimes skipping intermediary releases. Virtually always I use the online method (using zypper). Not skipping releases is considered safer, and really doesn't take terribly longer when doing them back to back without waiting. -- Evolution as taught in public schools, like religion, is based on faith, not on science.
