Just wondering......is there any chance of an update on Netscape to full
strength 4.75 in Europe?
I have downloaded the package from Netscape and tried installing it in
/opt/netscape.
The ns-install script would not run....so i had to do it all manually. The
program seems to be unable to find all of the java components...even though
they are all present

<snip> Hmmm. I grabbed the aforesaid tarbell off a local mirror down south & it installed just fine, using ./ns-install; into /opt/netscape. I did this on a bog standard 6.3. Speculation, your download got currupted-so try to get a fresh tarbell & retry....? Also, *touches wood* the Java in this one has been going very well. Sites that normally crash out Netscape Jave in Tux, are not doing so! Maybe it is the way I am holding my tounge? *BFN* Greek Geek :-) Anything that is good and useful is made of chocolate. -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq

Managed to get ns-install to run....picked something up from your post;-)
.....however even though it was supposed to install in /opt/netscape....it
didn't. No Netscape folder was created.....just a folder called /y in the
original communitator folder. I manually created /opt/netscape and copied
the contents across. Ran a chmod --recursive to allow me to use the program
as a user....and fired it up.
Still couldn't find the java files. Runs OK apart from that.
Thanks for the help

When ns-install asks you where to install the netscape, do not type "y", just enter. (Because y is already given.) Otherwise, It will create a /y directory and intall it there. nevzat Brian Galbraith wrote:
