That doesn't seem to work. I found a place to turn off the encryption, and that seems to have worked--I didn't have to uninstall anything. There is no html. But there is no sig. In Linux, there is Preferences, and under that, advanced>config editor and you get a long long list of things you can modify, and I did modify "Default signature_file" to specify my sig, and it shows there, but it doesn't seem to come out on the outgoing mail. In Windows, under tools>account settings, there is a place for a signature text, or to attach a text from a file, as was suggested. Also in Win, there is a choice of reply, reply to list, or reply to all. Reply to list doesn't seem to exist in Linux either. The version I d'l ed today is 2.0.0.24 (20100302) which would seem to make it current. Rereading the above, maybe what Linux wants is an actual file name and location, rather than the string I typed in. (The list allows "string.") I'll look into that. First.... On openSUSE 11.2 the most recent version of TB is 3.0.4. What version of openSUSE are you using and how did you install TB? Second, based on what you have written above, I think you went to "Edit-->Preferences" and not "Edit-->Account Settings". I don't have an older version of TB installed...but I don't think things changed in that area. (I don't know if this list allows attachments.....but I've attached a screen shot).
I bought a openSuSE 11.3 package, made a fresh install on my laptop and tried to export the installed packages (like in previous versions of openSuSE and yast2). Does not work: yast2 Software dialog simply vanishes when selecting "Export" for exporting the installed packages! Bug report seems to be here: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=624310 Same for Software Repositories: when adding a repository from local directory the repository dialog vanishes when I try to open the fileselector to select the directory! Then I checked and found that version yast2-2.19.14-0.3.1.i586.rpm seems to be the newest version (correct?). Installed this one. The new version installs fine but it has the same bugs! Yast2 seems to be very faulty in SuSE 11.3. It looks like regression testing failed for the sold openSuSE 11.3 DVDs. :-( -- NEU: FreePhone - kostenlos mobil telefonieren und surfen! Signatures worked fine for me when I used T'bird. Did you find the entry box for the signature Ed Greshko pointed you to? In T'bird, under the edit tab, menu item account settings, the first entry for each account, where the account name is entered? Don't recall what your original problem with kmail was. I changed from kmail to T'bird and finally to claws-mail when I had trouble with both of the former. It had a short learning curve but I like having the ability to modify it to my liking, mostly. That doesn't seem to work.
Why not add the 'Signature Switch" plugin. The issue here isn't that you want lots of 'fortune' style signatures, but rather that it has a easy to use/understand editor. -- It's not a good idea to believe anything about security when read in the mass media. by the time it gets there it is usually sensationalized to the point where it's more about hype and marketing than anything else. - Ryan Permeh [talis@MILLCOMM.COM] on Vuln-Dev -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I may have mentioned in another reply, that I basically did what you suggested--empty everything, start over. It worked for a couple of messages and then hung again. It's been a while since I got involved with this. I found and d/l'd the Windows version of T-Bird 3.x. How do I tell YAST to go and get the 3.x version and install it? I have 3.04 installed from the repos using yast and my signature comes up. I set up a signature by going under Edit --> Account Settings and then under each profile set up a signature. -- Michael S. Right Then There seems to be at last some concern about this problem that as i say in far from new . Upscope for your distribution lists do you have more than one account setup ie fred@isp.net , joe@isp.net , billy@isp.net What i have found is that kmail can start using the wrong account for your mail giving all sorts of complaints i have had to go thru everything checking passwords names addresses ISP settings one of the favorite things i have found is the ISP will want plain login and for some reason kmail will start using TLS or SSL causing all sorts of hassle and delayed mail with somewhat cryptic error messages .. both from kmail and the ISP .. that said it is still by far and away the best email client around Pete -- Powered by openSUSE 11.2 Milestone 2 (x86_64) Kernel: 2.6.30-rc6-git3-4- default KDE: 4.2.86 (KDE 4.2.86 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090514)) "release 1" 19:19 up 44 days 7:01, 5 users, load average: 0.72, 0.69, 0.61

Friday I reenter all contacts for a addressbook Group (Distribution List) called Zone_Chairman (9 entries), They were there and showed in KMAIL Select -->Distribution Lists. Yesterday moring only 6 enteries existed in contact and there are three blank entries in the Kmail list. This morning my complete default address book is missing under Select.
