running rpm -U kbase2-1.94-0.i386.rpm gets: error: failed dependencies libXm.so.1 is needed by kbase2-1.94-0.i386.rpm I don't see this file in any of the 6.4 cd's. Any suggestions would be appreciated. David __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Hi David, Go to the site listed below: ftp://ftp.twoguys.org/pub/kde/unstable/distribution/2.0Beta5/rpm/SuSE/i386/6.4/ The following README on that site explains everything and I followed it 100% and got kde2 working great. You have to install klibs2 first to avoid lack of dependencies error message. README: ----------------------------------------------------------- These directories contains KDE 2 final beta packages for the SuSE distribution. There are no QT packages, since a special version of QT is needed. This version is inside the ksupp2.rpm package, to avoid conflicts with an existing QT. You should download at least ksupp2, klibs2 and kbase2 and the translation package for your language from the noarch directory. For the 6.4 distribution the libaps package is required kdeqtadd is obsolete, since all needed stuff is inside klibs2. You should be able to install the packages with the command rpm -Uvh *.rpm If you have an older qt/kde 1.x package it is needed to add rpm -Uvh *.rpm --nodeps --force (this will break nothing ! ) You can start KDE 2 with WINDOWMANAGER=kde2 startx or if you want to start another X Server WINDOWMANAGER=kde2 startx -- :1 Have a lot of fun. ----------------------------------------- jozien -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
You can also use YaST to install them all. It will put things where they need to go. * Joseph Zieniewicz (jozien@cybercomm.net) [000916 15:58]: -->David wrote: --> -->> running rpm -U kbase2-1.94-0.i386.rpm gets: -->> error: failed dependencies -->> libXm.so.1 is needed by kbase2-1.94-0.i386.rpm -->> -->> I don't see this file in any of the 6.4 cd's.
