[opensuse] Recent Radeon without fglrx driver
Hi guys, When I installed SUSE 10.1/10.2 it setup my notebook's Radeon m200 (X300 in marketing speak) RV370 with the radeon driver (from X.org). 3D definitely did work - not very fast, but it did work. I loaded the binary driver for various reasons (performance and some shortcomings), but for some reason, as soon as I load the fglrx driver, I cannot ajust the brightness of my screen anymore, which is bad for battery life. I want to switch back to the DRI drivers, but I don't have a backup of my xorg.conf. I seem to have 3D working (I'm getting the right FPS with glxgears), but something is missing because glxinfo still says DRI is disabled and apps like Google Earth don't even get as far as complaining about OpenGL. Is there anyone who has 3D working properly on a newer Radeon with the DRI drivers (*not* the ATI binary drivers)? Would you please send me your xorg.conf and X.org.0.log? Try "sax2 -r -m 0=radeon" to create a configuration from scratch. Check "man sax2" and "sax2 --help" for further details. -- Never give up ! Best regards / Gruß, Reinhard. Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, try as I might, I'm not able to replicate the way it worked originally, that's why I'm asking for someone with a working config - for comparison.
